Slightly off beat for an EV forum. I have a 36v ebike and usually use this forum to discuss that but this question is about my 12v 10 cell Black and Decker Nimh drill battery charger. I need a replacement charger and the original is a constant current saturation charger. My charger is marked with a 14.5 volt output . There are cheap chargers available from China that say they will charge my batteries. The output voltage is not marked on them but when I enquire about charge voltage they all say they are 12v. Can I expect a 14.5 volt output?? I have seen variable current output chargers that detect the cell count and will charge a range of batteries. would I be better off with one of those?
