Hello,

Looking at my local bike add, i have found these three model which seems to be good dual suspension bikes.
Norco atomik 2004 :250$ however rear derailleur, crand and bottom bracket need changing and front disc needs to be bleed acording to seller. Closer to home currently inquiring if frame ok.
Norco six, 2005 never used for downhill, no repair to do 600$ a couple of hour drive from home.
Kona stinky 2005: good condition 600$ a couple hour drive from home.

I ll be adding a 9c read hub motor to this with a 48 volt system. With a cutoff from ca at 32 km/h.

All have good front and back suspension, and hydrolic disk brake. Has anyone got experience from mounting a hubb motor on these bike models? I seen a kona stinky thread, any additional information would be great.

Cheers

These are 9 speed rear cog, does this pose a problem for mounting a motor?

I was thinking of putting the battery on a rear rack. I ll think about it if i want to put it in the frame.

yes. you can't use the derailer, chain or the shifter from an 8 or 9 speed with a 7 or under rear gear set. a 9 speed uses a a thinner chain, and smaller steps for both the derailer and the shifter. Hub motors use freewheels, not cassets, so 7 speeds is the max.

DH bikes are tail heavy by nature. They are ment to be balanced while pointed down a hill. I tried a rear rack, but the bike isn't very stable with it.

I'd go Kona. But I've never owned one. I was looking at em hard, till I got my specialized. I just got a better deal on it. The konas have good frames for batterry carry compared to most others.

Avoid the rear rack if you can. It's not so bad on front hub, but with rear hub it does affect handling for sure.

I'll probably go with the norco six. Finally it's a 8 speed model, which may be compatible with 9c kit. Also, 2 hours less drive and cheaper then stinky after negotiations.

=)
