Notes on overvolting the eZips
Overheating can be a problem!
Most heat production occurs at low speeds-heavy throttle. So ...
Pedal assist getting up to speed and climbing hills.
Yeah.
The older controllers were great!
No HVC (High Voltage Cut-off).
I wish they, or equivalent, were still available.
Previously, I have built 25.9V (7s) Li-ion packs in the OEM eZip cases. (25.9V 31.2Ah)
In conjunction with my 16T mod, this supplied ~20mph!
The same eZip battery pack can fit 29.6V (8s) 31.2Ah of 18650 cells. (No known alternative capable controller!)
This should provide a "legal" 20mph without the torque loss due to re-gearing.
I feel the 25.9V w/16T mod to be of "acceptable" performance, 29.6V wo/16T mod should be "impressive", while still "legal"!
8s dedicated chargers are scarce! Recommend the iMax B8+ as a reliable balance charger.
Late 2008 and most newer controllers have a HVC near 30V.
Still, 7s 25.9V Li-ions are a noticeable improvement! (29.4V fully charged.)
If you buy an upgrade 36V controller, 33.3V and 37V are nice. (TNCscooters.com has Currie
plug-n-play controllers)
With connector mods, most controllers will work.
