Oxygen Snake folding electric bike?

One item to note is the vendor doesn't seem to be proclaiming unreal power or speed levels... that said, the prive of > 500 euros could likely be beat (cheap 16-20" folder, rear 250w geared (350w) hub and battery pack) by DIY.. the bike isn't anything fantastic just a slightly stretched frame with an eZip style pack form factor.

I note the fenders are full coverage but spaced a bit far from the wheel for true "splash" proof use (rear) in rain, I think that would be a commuting issue in the UK.

All in all, it doesn't look to be a bad deal for an assembled, legally powered eBike.

Hey guys, thank your for your thoughts.

They also have this one: http://www.electricbikeshed.co.uk/shop/electric-bicycles/oxygen-bikes/oxygen-city.html more powerful but also heavier and bulkier (weight is about 20 kilos for that one).

I'm also slightly put off by them claiming just 500 rechage cycles, and in a li-ion battery nonetheless! As far as I know, this is not the normal number of cycles for an average li-ion battery, is that right?

I'm, not so keen for DIY solutions, mainly because I don't know if it can be done to fold as neatly as this one...

Hopefully somebody who have (or at least has tried!) an Oxygen Snake or an Oxygen City will post soon! Will be the best input...

The 0% financing option looks very interesting too...

Its a bit over priced for what they are giving you. the rear drum brake on a 16" wheel would be miserable, and the choice of componants means you may want to upgrade things like derailers, shifters, ect.

But it looks to be a reasonable Ebike. I'm most impressed that they aren't overselling it.

As for the battery, LiFePO4 is the chemestry that lasts forever, but it's 40% larger than other Li-ion batteries. LiMn, LiCo, and LiMnCo are the chemestries most often found in Lithium devices. they're good for up to 500 cycles, or about 2 years shelf time. Same batteries as a cellphone, or a lap top. expect to replace it every year to two years.
