PEDESTRIANS TO BE BANNED!
Pedestrians must be banned because they have no crash bars or airbags!
That's a dig at the laws which prevent many little, ecofriendly cars being imported/built in the US by insisting they must have that kind of protection. No car will survive a crash with a Mac truck. You need to make vehicles as safe as practicable, but you mustn't prevent the use of ecologically sound vehicles by introducing rules that disallow them. That logic would require a ban on pedestrians.
On the high seas there is a rule that says "power gives way to sail". We need to instill that ethos in land-lubbers, namely that the large and powerful should yield to the weak and vulnerable. In the UK there is a law that says that if you have a collision with a horse it's AUTOMATICALLY your fault. Same idea should be applied to cyclists: If you hit one it's assumed that it's your fault unless it can be proved otherwise.
What do you think?

Heh Heh, power does yeild to sail for sure, but a lot of places I've windsurfed, only an idiot doesn't yeild to drunks on jetskis, or cargo barges. At bird Island, the fishermen who have a launch in the same place just rip through a couple hundred windsurfers like they own the place. Laws are nice, but, staying alive is important. I ride my bike the same way, I demand my road space, but if they aren't looking, I yeild to ride another day.

I want one of those Tata nanos.

I prefer my Tatas average-sized.

I like BIG Tatas  myself :p

Yesterday we saw a Woman standing on a corner waiting to cross a busy street. She had obviously been 'enhanced', as she was standing on the corner her "Enhancements" were sticking so far out into the street that cars turning right had to swerve to avoid hitting her watermelon sized....protrusions

The problem you are talking about does not happen in a free society. As the years go by, our wonderful and all knowing law makers keep doing what they do best, limit our freedom.

Not only can you not get the car you want, most people are being priced out of houses for the very same reason. You can no longer buy a piece of land and put up four walls in live in that house. There are so many requirements to meet the government rules that it ends up pricing a lot of people out of the market. It's not as bad with cars, but it will only take time before more and more people get priced out of owning cars.

I wonder what the added cost is nowadays from government mandates on cars?

Deron.
