I think there needs to be a quality floor in batteries, but man.. the bill is going to have the effect of making a certification monopoly & little guys won't be able to afford the pay to play game - these certifications are expensive.

Looks like there's 6 months before they decide on whether this is a thing or not.
 
It would be nice to know what the UL2271 tests are, but UL charges around $500 to buy the standard, and they don't have any free downloads. I think they are extensions of the cell tests that some cell makers will include in their datasheets,

Meanwhile, Elon Musk and Trump are derailing the above bill.
 
Extremely good news for our hobby in the states. That could have possibly killed a ton of small EV related businesses here.
 
Didn't know that.

I wonder how safer batteries ( solid state, sodium ion, etc ) will effect that. Hopefully for the better.
