Phone as remote control

It's in the sticky. There is a video listed if you want to see the interface. I used it for a while, but my extra phone I was using for it was always dead or the kids had taken it. I would use a small phone or ipod that you can grip easily and nothing you care too much about. I never dropped my phone while using it, but still had that feeling that it might happen. Everything worked well on it though.

Hey,
I used that controller for a bit.
it works
ups - don't need to carry more things while riding, just your phone.
downs - hard to control throttle sensitivity, afraid of dropping your phone while riding, not comfortable to hold during riding
I wouldn't use it in the long run, but it nice to connect to the board as a spare incase your remote battery runs out..

I think it would be workable if the app was re-designed. I don't know how to do that though. I never had a connection issue or anything weird like that. The touchscreen was a bit jumpy on the throttle. It would be nicer to have a bigger arc that what the app had, so it would take more movement. And obviously placing the throttle in a better position. I even think using a phones rocker buttons would be much nicer, at least to have that option.

Really would not like a remote with 0 feedback...
Also having to decide midair if i wanted to break my 500 dollar phone or my arm would suck... :D
Austin's wiimote and alien (and probably others too) is so small it can be velcroed under the board with no trouble...
Any alternative control MUST have feedback, the ideal design is still the First finger (don't know the name) and secondarily thumb operated trigger..

edit: included alien's remote as well as austin's wiimote
