I checked the completed listings on ebay for Ping 48V20AH batteries to see if they are going for less than pingbattery.com prices and I swear that one went for under $100 and another went for under $250 today. Please tell me I am hallucinating or at least that an ES member got them.

URGENT**************************************

I just took another look and the "Ping Battery" sold was a fraudulent user! Be careful out there!

I sent an email to Ping informing him of the scam.

sellers name? At least the buyer paid what a scam battery is worth.

Either:

Thanks for the tip, we'll watch for a new scammer trying to sell batteries under ping's name.

Or:

Quit teasing us! That is a really good deal we missed!

Kinda funny the seller's description includes Ping's scam advisory language:

http://cgi.ebay.com/48V-20AH-LiFePO4-Electric-Scooter-E-Bike-Ping-Battery_W0QQitemZ220320364353QQcmdZViewItemQQptZScooters?hash=item220320364353

SCAM ADVISORY - These batteries are only sold directly from PingPing227. Any other seller offering "Ping" batteries may be offering counterfeit merchandise.

Ok put sch shop on the shit list. Probobally barely reads english and just pasted the ad over from ping's. Would you buy a battery at any price from this guy? People seem to forget that the thing is usless if it doesn't work.

Sorry to write this so cynically, but haveing worked in lab research I might suggest that the laboratory rat is one of the most effective tools to find out if something will work on humans. Please feel free to determine if there are scams out there and write your reports! My little fellers needed me to observe and write the conclusions! Thanks you for your sacrifices!

Some may be assuming that you would get a bad battery from a scam seller. Chances are you would receive nothing at all.

A year or so ago, you could write to the bidders and tell them about scams. Can't even warn those people bidding on that fake auction.

The best solution is to buy direct from Pings website. No scammers there, and it's becoming more proven every day that his battery packs have the best performance in the budget segment of the market. Buying those cheap ebay packs is like buying bargain gas for the new car, valve crud here it comes. But you saved a dollar a tankfull.

Read and research carefully when buying on Ebay!

I think dogman's right about the language issue. I can imagine trying to create an ad in Mandarin with an existing ad in Mandarin as my only resource.

Everyone here should know that if it isn't ping selling it, it isn't a ping battery. I'm sure ping will contact ebay to correct the misrepresentation, but it happens often enough to ping that I'm sure it will keep happening.

The lure of large profits in the midst of extreme poverty in China is a force that will require foreign buyers to be very cautious with Chinese products.

Wow. That's like handing a merchant your credit card, where instead of signing it, you wrote, "this credit card is stolen."
There is a chance that the winner of the auction will receive a LiFePo4 battery though. Maybe it would be a knock-off of a ping brand battery!
