I have a ping battery and charger on my bike and when charging the case fan runs all the time. I have just bought a second ping and the charger fan is not working. Is this normal? is there a temperature switch inside the case ? I can't remember if my fan has always run constantly. I have messaged mr Ping but he takes a little while to answer.
The case is getting slightly warm,I dont want to burn it out. Do other Ping fans run all the time?

With power off, check that the fan blades turn freely.
I can't see a reason for conserving the elec. power into the charger, and a thermal switch costs money, so I'd say it's more likely than not that the fan should be running. If the case is warm, some components inside may be quite hot.

yes, the ping charger has a circuit for the fan motor and one of the op amps turns on the transistor for the fan current at the same time it is keeping the front end switching at a high rate but it may drop off below a certain level of charge current.

To update this. I emailed mr Ping.He answered within the hour. He asked me to test for a voltage to the fan while charging. The fan should be on all of the time while charging. There was no voltage so I guess its a dry joint on the board. He is sending a replacement by airmail. It should be here within a week.
We all make mistakes and with that kind of service it is easy to forgive.

what mistake?

do you have pictures of the inside of the charger and where you measured the voltage? can you find a transistor that turns on that plug to the fan? maybe we can get it fixed.
