A contact/switch of some kind? The U-shaped cutout in the rightmost part suggests it is supposed to be flexible to move and make contact across the terminals.

Yup... cheap thermal breaker for safety to protect the wires and electronics from getting hot. Makes contact again once it has cooled down.

+1 was thinking thermal breaker once i saw what it came out of.

It's an automatic resetting circuit breaker.

When current reaches a certian point, the heat through a Bi-Metal strip causes it to lift the contacts away from connecting, when it cools down, it connects again.
