What could be the Right decision for my next E-Bike Projekt :?:

As Frame i would like to use a Alpina Sl-5

 Otion 1) GM Motor with Air Cool Modifikation and a 18 FET Lyen 132V Controller as a Middel Drive System (chain goes direcktly from the HuB to the 8Speed)

Pro= Power
Con= Heavy, I think nobody has tested GM with 100V or ?

 option 2)Conhis Minni HUB with Air Cool Modifikation and a 18 FET Lyen 132V Controller as a Middel Drive System (chain goes direcktly from the HUB to the 8Speed)

Pro= Much Lighter as the GM
con= Not as much Power as the GM , I think nobody has tested the Minni Hub with 100V

 Option 3)Magic Pie with Air Cool Modifikation and a extern powered 18 FET Lyen 132V Controller

Pro= Hub Motor (no chain no extra holder for the Motor), Larger diameter as any other Hub Motor
Con= Havy wight in the Rear Wheel (not so good for OffRoad) I think nobody has tested the Magic with 100V

You think this would be good for off road ? Using a hub motor as a bash guard is a new idea.

None of your suggestions are interesting for off road power IMO.
Either go for a hub build that can be fed a fair amount of power, or build a mid drive with an RC motor reduction drive with a clutch.

Option one looks too close to the front wheel to me. Like it would rub when you compress the front shock.

Would be great to somehow integrate the hub with the bottom bracket, so the pedals attach to ends of the hub axle, along with some sort of freewheel system that allows pedaling input but also the ability to drive the rear gearset.

Mid drive R/C is about the best for that setup.
Looking at the swing arm I wouldn't put much of a DD hub on it. Alloy and big power is an accident waiting to happen. At least on a swing arm.

I snapped off the lt side of mine with a MAC 15slipo at 60amp, Oh I also had an 8" disc. Was fine with the Cute 128 but didn't last a mile with the MAC. I had a torque arm on that side but had DOC's plates to use but it broke of, didn't spin the axle.

I was warned here before be careful with ally dropouts. No I am building it from 4130. More power!.

scary, what bike was that swing arm off?

to the OP
I'd say go with a RC motor, the smaller form factor per W would give you more clearence and probably a lighter overall setup. If you do want to use a hub, how bout a MAC? should be good for about 1.5-2kw cont, posibly more given itll spend more time in its higher rpm/efficiency range with the use of gears, and the gears should last better since it will be isolated from shock loads from the ground. fairly compact too...

sn0wchyld,
It's a Mongoose tech-4. 2003 vintage. No parts for it so I need to cpoy it in 4130. I put at least 1k on it last summer with less power.

AS said all over this forum be careful with alloy dropouts!

I went from 48v LiFePo a Cute 128 to 15s LiPo with a 8T MAC at 60 amp draw.
