Newbie here!

Designing an dual rear electric longboard w/ the following config:

Motor : 2x Turnigy Aerodrive SK3 - 5055-280kv Brushless Outrunner Motor
ESC : 2x? Castle Creations Mamba Monster 2 Waterproof Extreme Brushless ESC
Battery : 2x 5000mAh 20c 3 cell (11.1v) Lithium Battery

Gearing (86 mm wheel): 14t on the motor, 36t on the wheel

Layout:
rear - dual motors with ESCs
front - batteries

Planning to run long wires from the front to the back like Boosted boards. Apparently, some of the users here have busted ESCs because of long wires. Not sure how long their wires are in their setups, but mine would be ~12 inches long. Am I going to bust my ESC or my motors?

Also, I feel that the ESCs are a bit overpriced. Is there another ESC that I could get away with this setup? Also, might be a very stupid question but I need to buy two ESCs, one for each motor right?

Hey wishzz welcome to ES!

For the most part, I think it's fine. You can add capacitors to the setup to account for the longer wires. Someone in the past mentioned the wires which boosted uses in which you wouldn't have to cut a slot in the deck.

ESCs are fairly expensive. The current ESCs available would be the VESC which is available through multiple sellers on this forum, TorqueBoards 12S ESC and the Castle ESCs as far as ESC's above 6S.

I'd prevent the longer wires though as much as possible.

Not sure, if you specifically wanted a bouncy deck.

You would need a single ESC for each motor.
