Wanted to share my build with y'all. Great project for me during some of the pandemic lulls and now that summer is coming into full swing, I'm quite excited to start dialing this one in.
Some parts of the bike are still in progress (clearly) - but now that I'm getting towards the end, I wanted to see if there were any thoughts people had that I could take away as lessons for the inevitable next project. I think theres plenty to be said with the weight distribution and frame capabilities. Overall feeling good about the end product though!
Heres the breakdown:
Trek Mountain Track 800 Sport - It's so tall and I love it.
14s 16.5ah Downtube Battery - Yes its mounted upside down. Happy to explain why.
DD45_FST Hub Motor from Grin
80A Controller which is nested inside the battery mount
26" Wheels with purple tires!

Theres still a few things left to do:
Replace the crankset/BB - Plan on a single chainring since I opted to remove the derailleurs.
Add the chain
Add some Fenders
Swap the pedals
Put some rubber grommets in the holes which which drilled into the top tube.
Which actually brings me to a big question I had during this build:
Am I an idiot for drilling into my frame? I spent a long time trying to talk myself out of it, but eventually caved and decided that all the wiring was simply too ugly to be left wrapped around the tube. I'm pretty confident with the structural integrity at this point, and not concerned about it snapping. But then again I steer with my instincts a little too often.
Hope you enjoy! I'll be adding pictures as I finish up.
