I just wanted to take a sec for a quick thanks for all the help and good feedback y'all have provided. And I thought I'd make a quick intro.

My name's Steve but some friebds call me Phil, short for Philosopher, and I have had a life time love affair with 'how things work'. Over the years this love has pointed me toward all kinda of fun things: i used to be a service manager for Honda then Porsche, I used to be a math prof for the local community college, I've built vintage race motorcycles for about 25 years, and I have a bit of philosophy degrees... I just really love understanding how things work.

A few years ago I picked up a crappy electric standing scooter and just totally dug it. I've had a few, each a bit nicer than the previous, and it's just my favorite way to get around town. I mean it puts a smile on my face that just won't go away.

However, I am just starting to become familiar with electric vehicles, even ones as simple as my humble little scooters. Nevertheless I totally an excited and having fun and desire learn what I can.

There is a lot to learn when breaking into a new hobby! Its not just the physical skill set of riding and enjoying the scooter. I am just starting to learn about E.V. battery systems and their components, what they do and how the quality differs from maker to maker, not to mention how the quality of each bit affects the whole system.... I am still learning the lingo of this hobby - both the technical names for things and the casual language used by all of you. And I also am still learning how to source parts, and developing a sense of what are good vs bad parts plus an expectation of what bits should cost... Heck. I'm just starting to become aware of what the options are out there. ...and then there are all the cool things that I've not even heard of yet.
Exposure to concepts opens whole worlds of potentiality.

This truly is a 'niche sport,' and I am loving it! I realize there is a lot to learn, and I am very thankful for this forum and the body of unique knowledge stuffed inbetween the pixels.

I've especially enjoyed reading some of the build threads where over the course of a year or more rad ideas have grown from concept to reality, often with several painful crashes or mechanical meltdowns along the way. There definately is a potentially expensive learning curve here!

Anyway. I'm having fun. I'm looking forward to trying to get sucked into all this. I'm looking forward to hopefully getting to know some of you.

Peace and grease
-Phil

"electric standing scooter and just totally dug it."

Careful. Happened to me. Since hopelessly addicted. (You have been warned.)

PS. Hehe
