Rebuilding a Segway I2 Battery

Hey guys,

Anyone ever done that?
I have this customer with this huge old Segway, he doesn't wanna throw it away and asked for a rebuild.
I did some googling and it seems that the cells are cylindrical but look fatter than 18650's.
Is there a way to use my own BMS and 18650 Li Ion cells?
If so, what is the voltage and also the max current drawn by the controller?
How many cells can I fit there and how thick the BMS can be in that space?

I'm pretty sure they are 18650 LiFePo4's.

I did rip it apart. Its 18650. It's all glued together.

It seems that I won't be able to fit even a 1.2cm thick BMS on top instead of the stock one.
I can't use the stock as I wanna go with LiIon and I think that can mess up the whole system as it seems too fixed too have any changes in such product, am I right?
