I need to replace a broken brake lever on the original Wisper 905e sport. However the original 3 wire lever seems to be impossible to source. Is it possible to use a 2 wire lever instead?

It's the wire that connects to the motor control unit, that shuts the motor off when you brake.

Contact Wisper, after sales service is good even with 2nd hand bikes.. the Owner contributes in the pedelec.co.uk forum, post there if you cant wait til monday am. ;)

I'll try, but the part is not available on the spares pages of Wisper's website. Thanks fore your help.

is the lever itself bust or just the sensor, the sensor can be replaced.. if the mechanical lever, you may need to replace with a new pair if you want to maintain a matching look.

If its a style issue you could buy off the shelf non sensored levers and apply a magnetic hall sensor for hydraulic brake upgrades.

afaik 3 wire sensors employ magnetic sensitive hall sensors while 2 wire variants employ reed switches, Both afaik will ground the signal wire on 'activation' so as long as you connect just the ground and signal wires to a 2 wire sensor it might be worth a punt if no other option can be found. ( my own quick search on the usual portal site turned up lots of 2 wire hydraulic ebike levers..

If the sensor recess is the same could you refit a hall sensor into a reed sensor supplied lever??

Thanks for the advice, both the lever and sensor are broken (the bike fell over). I'll try the 2 wire lever to the ground & signal.

The link above has both stick on sensors for non-ebike levers, And replacement sensors for dedicated ebike levers as options..

would a 3pin replacement sensor fit inside a 2 pin lever assembly??

However the stick on sensors do work very well and are very easy to fit and if fitted on the underside are not an eye sore ;)

Thank you everyone for your advice. I have found that connecting the replacement (2 wire) lever to only the black and green wires of the bike's loom (ignoring the red) has the desired function.
