hey everyone, i was thinking of installing into my rockrider st100 bike an electric kit with a budget of around 300ish euros i am from italy dont mind if the parts are from amazon or aliexpress or wherever, can somebody please help me on which parts i need and without losing the possibility to change gears, its my 1st time ever looking into this kind of projects or electric bikes at all and i need it to keep doing deliveroo, please help me thanks in advance.

What is your battery budget?

At only 300euros for the kit, it wouldn't include a battery, especially one that would provide enough power or capacity to do deliveries and such. Most likley the battery will cost more than the whole rest of the kit, perhaps two or three times as much (or more, depending on what you need it to do for you).

How much range do you need?
At what speed?
With what riding conditions, terrain, hills, slopes (even slight ones), wind/breeze, etc?
How many stops/starts?

Those will determine how big a battery you need, by finding out how much power the system must provide, and how long it has to do that.

You can experiment with the simulators at ebikes.ca / tools to see how this all works; it will take a bit of fiddling and experimenting, and looking thru the instructions below the chart.

HI, ok so I've looked a bit into things with chatgbt and found that a 36v 10 or 12ah battery with a 250w motor is more than enough for me not looking for anything crazy just to make an entry level e bike, from what chatgbt told me è with those specs I should be in the range of 30 to 40 km of autonomy which is enough for me, I mainly need it for straight roads and to give me a little help when I'm doing the small hills or bridges. Don't know if I can attach links so I will post the screenshots of what I've found on aliexpress. Only thing that's missing is the motor or wheel kit that supports gear shifts that's what I'm lost at xD or would it be easier installing the motor on the front wheel ?

Hi everyone! 😊

I'm planning to convert my Rockrider ST100 (27.5") into an e-bike on a €350 budget, and after some research I think I’ve found a viable setup. Before I buy, I’d love your feedback on compatibility and reliability. Im gonna need it for doing deliveroo no extreme conditions nothing crazy just straight roads in the city 10 or 20% of the times i will have some small hills or bridges so nothing extreme needed.

🔧 Planned setup:

🚲 Bike info:

  • Rockrider ST100 (Decathlon)
  • Rear wheel: 7-speed freewheel (smallest cog: 14T)
  • Front chainring: 42T
  • Mechanical disc brakes
  • 27.5" wheels

❓ Questions:

  1. Does this setup seem compatible and reliable?
  2. Any first-hand experience with these CSC kits or Hailong batteries?
  3. Will 13Ah be enough for 20–30km daily city rides?
  4. Anything special to consider when installing on this frame?

Thanks so much in advance! 🙏
