Anyone in SA and surrounding area want to meet up at OP Schnabel park on a Saturday? We can cruise around on the paved paths and hit the harder stuff too.

If there is any interest we can work out the details in this thread. I know Damcard aka David is up for it.

Gary,

I would love to meet up. I'm still in the planning phase for my ebike but I could bring my regular bike and cruise around with you guys. I'll actually be there in the morning. My daughter has her first soccer game at 10:30 I think.

Cheers,
Jason

I'm in San Antonio but it's too dangerous to ride to Op Schnabel from where I live. If y'all ever want to ride the Salado Creek Greenway or the the Mission trail on the Southside, I'd be up for that.

I just let the magic smoke out of my motor. :( I won't be able to do a ride for a while. :( -Damcard
Aww man, I was all happy because I had some replies on this thread then got to yours. Really sorry to hear that. Hope you figure out what caused it so no repeats.

I hear you about the danger. I live on the south side and only ride during the day if it's a really short trip. If I have to go far, like to work, I take the bus with my bike on the rack. When we do an OP Schnabel ride I will take the bus there. Could be an option for you too.

Now that's what I'm talking about. Sounds like you already have an ebike grin :D Sorry, but I already have junk I need to do tomorrow morning, then I head to work.

I plan on going to the Blue Star Brewery for first Friday as there are some nice paved trails along the Riverwalk I want to investigate more as last time they were adding new sections. If anyone wants to join me let me know.

Hey guys I'm going to edit the first post with other ride options like the ones jimw1960 suggested. I will also start a list of SA ebikers and future ebikers.

Only a few parts of town are too dangerous, Bandera road being one of them. I commute to SwRI on the West Side three times a week either from my house downtown (10 mi.) or from my house near 410 & Nacadoches (15 mi). Pretty much anywhere inside Loop 410 is doable now that they have added so many new bike routes.

I ride to and from BlueStar often. A bunch of us have this vintage and custom bike club called "Slow and Low San Antonio (SALSA)" and we can often be found drinking beer by the river at BlueStar. This past Sunday we rode from there down past the Ghost Tracks near Mission Espada on cruiser bikes. It would be a much faster ride on ebikes. I also do the First Friday night ride pretty often, but also on cruiser bikes. We meet up behind Sams Burger Joint at like 7:30 pm and ride down to BlueStar. We hit up several stops for beer, like the VFW post, Acapulcos, Friendly Spot, La Tuna, Pedicab, etc. I'd be up for doing something similar on ebikes.

I remember reading about your club a while back when I was researching first Friday rides. Sounds cool.

For this Friday I was going to go down there while it's still light and ride the trails around there to see where they lead. If you want to join me we can decide on a time and see if we can come up with a new ride for ebikes!

I prefer doing paved or offroad trails as I already ride about 30 miles a day on streets and want to do something different on my days off.

I'll check to see what my wife has planned for me on Friday. From Bluestar the river trail goes only about 2-3 miles south. Just past Bonshakers bar on Mitchell, it dead ends where the construction is ongoing. When they finally finish in a year or two, it will go all the way down to Mission Espada. To go south from Bonshakers at present, you have to come up to street level where there are some decent bike routes to get you past the construction area.
