I have a collection of Sanyo 18650 cells that I'm trying to sort by type so that I can use them to build battery packs. If anyone can clarify how to accurately identify them I would be very grateful.
Some of them are labeled UR18650___, which makes things easy, but there are quite a few without it. Most of these have only the Manufacture Date code (stamped) and the serial number (printed). Some also have "SANYO" and "R1112" or "R2112" stamped on them.
All the cells have the same 6-point star on the positive terminal, and a coloured ring around it. I have seen Brenner's post on laserpointerforums about identifying Sanyo cells by the colour of their ring, but it doesn't entirely fit with the cells I have.

The labelled ones I have are:
Purple Ring - Labelled - UR18650A
White Ring - Labelled - UR18650A
Light Green Ring - Labelled - UR18650Y
Red Ring - Labelled - UR18650FJ
Light Blue Ring - Labelled - UR18650FM
White Ring - Labelled - UR18650FH
And the unlabelled ones (with my guess at what they might be):
Dark Green Ring - Unlabelled (UR18650F 2400mAh)
White Ring - Unlabelled (UR18650A)
Red Ring - Unlabelled (UR18650F 2200mAh / UR18650FJ)
Light Blue Ring - Unlabelled (UR18650F 2600mAh / UR18650FM)
Light Green Ring - Unlabelled (UR18650Y)
Purple Ring / Orange Sleeve - Unlabelled (UR18650ZT)
I also have some light green / unlabelled ones that stand out as having a slightly lighter sleeve than all the rest, and some labelled "UR18650Y 2.0AH" with a black ring and a very pink sleeve. I assume these ones are fakes, although the weight of them is OK.
