Just bought it. I'll have it in a week or 2. My second trike. I previously had a Catrike pocket. Had a 750w hub with 48v 18ah battery. I think I would like the same basics. I hope to be able to maintain its ability to fold. I'm looking for thoughts and ideas for all the parts and pieces. I'd like first quality on the batteries, I think LifePo4, and ideas for a battery housing. Suggestions, thoughts and comments will be greatly appreciated. I think the frame has ports to conceal the wires...

That is a nice trike you got there. I was planning a Scorpion FS 20 instead of the 26 just so I can have a 20 inch rim and run higher rpm motor and get higher efficiency when accelerating/climbing hills. If you want the best cells, I would go with tesla's cells if you can afford it. Super light and high capacity. As for the mounting the battery, I would get a machinist to build you a mount to mount to the bottom center of the trike. Make it aero if possible.

I'll be interested in watching what you come up with. We've had a pair of FS26's for over a year now. Considering buying another to play with a few motor options.

I think the boom is stiff enough to manage the Bafang BBS02 @ 500 watts without too much bending. It appears the SRAM DD3 is stout enough as its used on a few turnkey models with the Bosch system. On the negative side is power cut off for shifting and the lack of a torque sensor.

The other option under consideration is the 9C with a triple ring and a Thun crankset for torque input.

May just try one first then the other. Not in any rush, its just a toy to play with. I still like to pedal most of the time.

I'm running rear 9C on both my direct drive Catrike Trail and my Actionbent (Performer) recumbent trikes, and it is a pretty carefree solution, although I did to do one bearing change, and get a pro to do a wheel rebuild. I just use a throttle, no PAs. It took some imagination to get the torque arms set up, but the motor is really locked in there. The downside is wheel removal if you have a flat which can't be fixed in situ (most flats I've had can be fixed without wheel removal, if the hold can be isolated). I think the Bafang would be more hassle. You will want to make sure the batteries are low, and forward, directly under the seat. It makes a big difference in handling. I've got dual Ping 15s and the handling is excellent - it sucked when I had the batteries on the rear rack, even low down on the rack.

The HPV FS26 Pedelec has a pretty nice battery mount that allows a twin battery mount just underneath the seat pan. I've already fabbed some similar but slightly better mounts.

Haven't figured out a torque arm yet. I know I want to attach to the rear caliper mount but won't have a complete design before I get the hub.

I'll still try the Bafang. I have a hunch that one will later be sold.
