I have a retired BBS01 that I want to remove from the bike. It seems to have seized to the frame. Has anyone experienced this, and have any clever tricks to get it off?

Did you grease all the threads and interfaces when you installed it? Is it an aluminum frame?

You say it's seized to the frame. Does this mean you were able to remove the locknut and retaining nut?

The frame is aluminium. I dont think I greased the threads in the frame. I greased all the bolts, and the threads for the lock-rings. All the bolts and the lock-rings was easy to remove. But the motor unit just wont move at all. I'm not sure if seized is correct, its just stuck :)

Try soaking the area with household ammonia to break up the aluminum oxide. You might have to do this a number of times to get results. But do it before you try anything oily. The point is to get the ammonia seeping into the gap where aluminum has corroded and expanded. Once there, the ammonia can dissolve the aluminum oxide. You might be able to pour some ammonia down the seat tube and let it sit at the bottom of the frame while it works.
