Is there a simple solution to achieving this? as my 5kg battery behind the seatpost is not ideal for handling. It would be far better to have it mounted within the frame triangle somehow.

Im thinking something with aluminium plate and zip ties or velcro. Real obvious and not expensive or requiring serious engineering nouce.

Anyone?

I have purchaced steel sheet from the hardware store, (.032~) bent it into a shallow box (like a cover) used hose clamps, and bent up tabs to hold onto the bike tubes.

got any pics?
are hose clamps like jubillee clips?

Also is the battery quickly removable for rain storms etc?

I made it for a friend- no pix- the holder looked like a shoe box cover (a little deeper) cut in on the 4 corners, hammered the edges up on a piece of wood, bent the tabs over on the 4 corners, drilled, pop rivets, 4 times (or weld), "T" shaped steel mounting tabs cut, pop rivit (or weld) to the bent up edge (on both ends), through the upper part of T, straight part of T under hose clamp/bike tube, 2 clamps each end?, the hose clamps are the stainless steel 1/2" wide worm gear type. Could use vinal electrical tape under clamps to prevent marking paint?

Used Velcro straps (hook & loop) to hold the batterys in place (1" wide X2 for each battery), corragated card board spacer between the batterys, and the metal holder. (sheet, notch 4 corners bend up X4, drop into bent up box.)

2x4 or 1x4 and metal or plastic sheet. The wood makes it easy to fasten the whole thing with screws, and strap it to the bike.View attachment 2DSC01056.JPGDSC01058.JPG

Hose clamps are indeed jubilee clips to our ham shank cousins.

Also, this thread:

has many ways you could do something like this. ;)

A "U" shaped bit of 3mm aluminium mounted to the bottle mount inserts (countersunk screws) + duct tape will do the trick.

i made an "L" shape .. cut tabs on both ends for hose clamps... longside of "L" on seat post tube...... "U" brackets bolted about an inch from both ends[keeps battery stable] put the battery ina bag [which i made] cut slots in top sides of bag and velcroed the bag to the mount... used 1/8th x3" alum for the "L" 1/8thx2" for the "U" battery is pingv2 36v 12 amp...10x21/2x5 [approx] put some high density foam in the battom and back of the bag..... 1400 miles no probs

It's viable.

Difficult, but it's been done. Full-throttle did a 48v 10Ah pack made from little cells.

If it is a cylindrical cell + tab welded pack, you cut the tabs in the middle and solder on copper shim to make the new connections. (Never break the welds themselves.)
