I am a mechanical engineering student at NC State and I am the electrical lead for the solar car team there. We are trying to build a solar car and based on the range we want to achieve, we would need at least a 40kwh battery. Our pack will be at a nominal voltage of 403.2 volts with a 112s30p configuration. We were looking at the samsung 50E because of the higher amp-hour. We estimate that there will be about a 50amp draw if the car is traveling at 60mph. So with 30 cells in parallel, that is 150ah. So are we correct that the batteries would last 3 hours? Even though our math says that we would need 40kwh of energy and the battery matches that energy, will the amp hour be a concern? Any suggestions or guidance would be helpful.
