SNOW! Seriously, In Dallas! 6 inches of Premium, Uncut Snow! This was my first time to realy get to play with my Ebikes in the stuff. I've never had them all running when we got any kind of foul weather.I had nothing to do Sunday afternoon but clean up the kitchen or go play in the snow, So guess which won?
First off, Front wheel gear drive motor in snow = Fail. It worked, sort of, but not enough weight on the drive wheel, and loss of traction on the front made steering a Bi@*#. It was easier to just peddle the bike. I made it about 100 feet
I grabbed the 9C bike for a bit. It was fun, but the motor growls in the snow. So I went back and grabbed the Clyte. Now thats Zen with Peddles! It was so quiet outside you could hear squirls making yellow snow, and the Clyte fits better with that silence. Tha bike also has a long travel suspension so it floated over all the odd junk peacefully burried under that snow.
But skrew Zen-like peacefullness, that lasted a half a block
Then I opened the throttle and took off for the park, spraying a roostertail of snow behind me. The bike handles snow like it's on rails... If you accept that it's sometimes on rails, sideways, or backwards. Jumping over Snow drifts is almost as much fun as missing, and landing in them. Powdered snow everywhere!
I even had some teenagers tell me I was nucking futz, they would never ride their bike in that weather.
It was a short ride, but I managed to burn 86Wh/M doing it. Fun times.
