Some bms's do not have a positive most connection for the jst connector. It is read by the positive terminal on the board. Not sure which you have but just fyi.

Edit: Ok I see your link now. That one has connections for all 9 wires and the positive does not connect to it so you have it correct.

You got a wrong BMS.
There no chance this thing to be able to balance the batteries.

If there is no compatible BMS for your application, feel free to not connect the balancing cables at all.
You will use the BMS for short circuit protection which even this function it is very important.

Care to explain why it's a wrong BMS ?

I think it balances.

no, the guy just has no clue. the BMS on that calibike battery did not have a balancing circuit as was evident in the picture i left on that thread. anyone could see it if they knew what a balancing circuit was but few here know what that is.

Im sorry i didnt reply i stoped getting notifications on my phone amd forgot .

So the bms has 8 pins not 9 ,could it be that as the bms has a negative battery intake , it jumps the negative and starts from the firs series up to the positive terminal??

many thanks for your help guys

You are close. I think you will find only 8 balancing connectors on the board (see attached figure from eclipse bikes) but
you are showing 9 balance wires on your sketch; The battery - is the one you need to remove. B1 balance wire goes to the plus side of the first cell.
Mark.

If 9 wires the first wire goes to the neg. #1 cell and the next wire goes pos. same cell. All the rest of the wires follow 2~8 the last wire to pos.8cell is the same as pos. main wire.
Let someone chime in to 2nd.
Charge all cells to 3.6v this can be done by placing all in parallel to even charge to all cells. Best to start all cells at same voltage to help bms keep balance and not to over work the bms.

yes, always balance the cells initially by shorting them all together in parallel. bring them all to the same voltage initially and it is so much faster to balance the first time. which is the only time it usually needs extensive balancing.
