I various threads I see there are often talk about what throttle to choose. But I have not seen anyone saying distinctly what sets those throttles apart. Is the difference just personal taste or is the some universal truths about how one is better then the other?
Tried to google to see what separates but came up blank.

And will both throttles work for the adaptto controller? Or what about rc ESC, will both type of throttle work for ESC?

Adapto - probably both, rc esc - speed only

Speed - your throttle dictates speed. You turn the throttle up to let's say 15%, and the controller applies full power until the vehicle gets to 15% of maximal speed.

Torque - your throttle dictates power (or torque, depends on controller). You turn your throttle up to 15%, but this time controller applies only 15% of your power, and gets you to whatever speed you can do with 15% of your power.

Speed control is impossible to use with higher power systems, because it will launch you every time you touch the throttle. If your controller has only speed control, you need to have some external device which can add a slow ramp for throttle signal. (CA or zombiess's throttle tamer).

Thx riba.

I thought it was all in the hardware, different physical throttles. :D  :D
So if I read you correct any e-bike throttle will have the ability to be used in both ways? The throttle below could be set up as speed or torque, correct?

It also seems the be an issue how to dial in throttles. Or maybe that is to do with the various brands of throttles. What I am thinking of is often referred to as "twitchyness" here on ES. And I guess that is a given to avoid. Is there some throttles (the hardware) that works better then others?

I will use Adaptto controller. I am not fully aware of all the features of that controller yet, but I think torque throttle will work for Adaptto.
