Speedometer shows 0 if throttle is not used.

Hi, so I am building my first ebike. But I am facing an issue the speedometer shows 0 if I don't give throttle (even if my vehicle is moving). It's like the speedometer is showing the amount of throttle I give. For example if I am in an uphill and I give half throttle it would show 40kmph but the speed would be 10 and then if I give full throttle the speedometer would show 80kmph but it is still the same speed. Any idea how to fix this? Also my ebike has very low torque (but it is 1000watt) and heats up very quickly. I do have a self study wire but since I am new to ebike I don't know how to use it.

What controller are you using & does it have a speedometer wire on it?
