The Sur Ron Light Bee has been available as a street legal moped (L1-e vehicle) in the EU for a few years now.

That sounds really good.

It would be "nice" if there was a Class 4 designation that fit this for ebikes that satisfied the pedal requirement but allowed for a throttle.
The 28 mph speed cap is fine.

The whole "force you to suffer" mentality of the pedelics is messed up... bring back the throttle.

My thinking is certain standards for rims, tires, brakes and overall strength need to be included in an overall specification, but hopefully it's not made too rigid.

One wise avenue would be to elect representatives of ACTUAL people into the hobby to act as a board to simply review and either give a pass or fail on ideas generated by manufacturers.

The inventions must be generated from OUTSIDE the governing body because the government consistently picks the dumbest answers over and over.

Really would consider one of these as a moped here in Florida (USA). Anyone get this type of bike registered as a moped in FL?

I know I may be able to ride it as a ebike staying under 28 mph, but think it may be safer to get registered as a moped and go 30 mph or so and keep up with traffic in a 35 zone, etc.

Mopeds often have a different registration process than motorcycles. For example, in California a moped only needs to be registered one time per owner and the license plate you get doesn't have a month on it or year sticker on it.

In California you just use the bicycle serial.number as the VIN and a moped does not need insurance for registration.

You do not need insurance to register a moped, but you do need special license plates and an identification card, along with a one-time $23 registration fee.
