My wife saw this advertised on "Biggest Loser" and knew she had to show it to me. I think the concept is interesting - an elliptical machine that you can take out in the world - but they have it priced at $2,000  and it looks sorta flimsy for that kind of money. The good news is that when they out-price the market, there are thousands of manufacturers in China who will pump out knockoffs at a fraction of the price.

The idea is good for a workout because you are standing up and balancing your torso as you pedal, and you can do it out in the world instead of chained to your living room. OTOH One bump lifting you off the steppers at speed could be catastrophic, and all that weight shifting could cause stability issues. Plus the steering looks like it is accomplished by "leaning", and I'm not sure what those front brakes (only) are (drum?). However you know I'm an eBike addict because I still would sorta like to pervert it with a hub motor and some headways.

As much as I know a lot of people will make fun of these, they are much easier on your knees than jogging. Plus older people who ride bikes often have problems with crotch circulation...better than turning into a couch potato/

I actually saw these almost ten years ago on a Chinese manufacturing site. No prices as they were a bulk supply kind of operation. Probably cheap though. Seems like you could get two people on one, dress up as the twins from super jail and it would look pretty funny.

Hmm 2 or 3 wheels, pedals that work, max xpeed 20 mph, max 750 watts.

Hmm hooked up to heart rate monitor for auto assist.

Hub motor or chain drive?

We can do 1000w in california, so I'd do a 8fun/bafang hub motor (resembles the front hubs), and a 48v20a pedal-first controller strapped on the high tail.

And that frame in the video is already Headway blue, connect 16 Headways end-to-end with set screws (2 rows of 8 ) and strap them under the long "down tube". You'd have a 48v Stealth Streetstrider, you'd be the superman of your retirement community. :D

Oh, and include a rear disk brake, I am skeptical about the front brakes.

If I could nail one of these for $500, I might try it. $2000, not so much. After they fail I'll pick one up cheap.
