I have the Hakko Presto 981 which is rated at 20W with the button taking it to 130W (which is bs imo) and it's the best soldering iron I worked with.
The thing is that even though that tiny thing can do 8 and even 6AWG it's taking a long time to heat up the area, especially when soldering to a large copper busbar.
I'm looking for a stronger quality soldering iron for the job, not looking to spend $500 on it as mine is doing the job at $60 brand new, so if there is something that isn't too expensive and isn't a cheap chinese digital soldering station then I would like to hear about it.

Having trouble remembering but in one of my past lives I used to build those big stained glass windows for churches. We used a soldering iron like this.

Beautiful windows!

Found my propane torch soldering tip :D
During the panic of not finding it, I bought a new one. Now I got 2. Will put it here so it don't get lost.

Don't think these are being made anymore? Package looks old.

I guess you guys don't get me.
There are quality irons that don't need to be gigantic for providing high thermal conductivity and soldering thick wires.
No soldering iron rated at 20W iv'e ever seen can solder 8AWG wires to copper aside from the Hakko Presto 981 I have.
It does the job great but slow, so I want something like this only stronger.
