The company has just introduced a fully-electric, five passenger sports sedan dubbed the Model S, which will be selling for $60,000, and will manage 225 miles on a full charge. The carmaker says it will produce the vehicles in a brand new manufacturing plant it's opening in Northern California.
It will be interesting to see how the electrical grid in California deals with hundreds of people plugging in electric cars.
Did they ever solve those brownout issues during the summer years ago?

added: they now say 4 years after the $60k release they are aiming for a $30k model

Yep, they sent a bunch of Enron jerks to prison.
:?

The brown outs were all fake. There are even phone recordings of electrical plant operators conspiring to shut down plants intentionally to cause brown outs. In any event, most people would plug in at night, a time of lesser electrical loads on the grid.

WTF!!! i think that clothing is not safe on a ebike ...

What I want to know is what battery chemistry are they using for the 300 mile pack!?!?!?
The standard pack that goes 160miles is probably the Li-Co laptop pack but how are they going to squeeze twice the performance from the same pack space? Unless they are going to do something lame like fill the front trunk with batt?

If I ever have a successful big-boy job I'd buy one of these in a heartbeat....

I was just reading that Borg Warner is doing the transmission does anyone know who makes the motors and other widgets that make up a roadster?
