I had vaguely thought of this but haven't seen straight bike spokes. I'll have a look, I've got some spokes to try the bend but the bend is very close to the mushroom end so may not be too easy to bend accurately.

Actually I think it would help if they go with a larger diameter rim. I had mine in 26 inch and the bend on those cause a few spoke to break. It was probably due to the chinese quality, but then again I don't think it was helping having them on such small diameter rims. With larger rims, or at least rims with proper angles on the nipples, you can actually do fine.
