How hard to you think it would be to recreate this drive setup?

It looks fairly simple. I'm looking for a motor setup that would be very lightweight that I could add to my recumbent and use just on the steepest hills for a couple hundred watts of assist.

I have a BBS02 that I use on my commuter bike, but that's far too heavy for what I'm wanting.

I'm just interested in the mid-drive set up. Has anyone produced a mid-drive that is this light?

I don't know about lightweight mid-drives, but that throttle hidden in a bicycle bell is pure genius for the stealth factor.

mclark999: I have been looking around for the same thing for a while now but no real luck. I would like to get the whole motor assembly under 1kg.

For reduction these banebots planetary gearboxes might be usable (but might be noisy and short lifespan)
