My 2019 Radcity Radpower bike has 4 thousands miles. Bike hilly areas w many throttle cold starts. Battery runs down quickly. Is it time to replace battery? Thanks.

Maybe, do you have something like a cycle analyst which can measure the amp hours you're getting out of the pack? if you did, you could find out what % you're getting out of the pack vs when new, then decide based on that.

Another measure is 'how many charge cycles has this battery passed?' Does your control system tell you that?

If you are comparing the battery running time from when it was new to now 5 years later, and you are now experiencing a large decrease, then that does indeed indicate a textbook example of (normal) battery degradation.

All batteries degrade.
  • Time
  • Letting battery sit at 100% charge
  • Heavy demands when cold
  • Heavy demands at low SOC
  • Excessive heat
Any of these factors apply to your battery? The time factor we already know, 5 years for those Rad Li-ion batteries seems about right.
