Hi, I'm going to install the BBS02 kit on a Specialized Sirrus.

I don't own any bike tools, but I have generic tools like hex bits, wrenches, screwdrivers, etc. Can you help me figure out all the tools / parts / materials I'll need to install this? I would like to have everything ready beforehand if possible, so I don't have to go through several days of going back and forth to the store.

Here's what I think I'll need (let me know if any of these are not necessary):

I'm not sure if the chain tool is necessary. My bike has 3 cogs in front, and 8 speed cassette in the back. I know i'll have to remove the 3 front cogs, but will I be able to keep my existing chain without modifying it?

And what materials or parts will I need in addition? I'd like a neat install, so anything that would help in that arena is good. I'm guessing I'll need zip ties.

Thanks in advance!

The first 2 items are the same thing.I would get the first one.
This type of thing is better than the park toolhttp://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BB-Bottom...sure_Cycling_BikeLocks_SR&hash=item54128861bc.
You will need a BB remover like http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Cyclo-Car...sure_Cycling_BikeLocks_SR&hash=item566ea6fb71.
You may need a small grindstone to go in an electric drill as sometimes(every time in my case) there are tiny bits of weld inside the BB where the frame tubes were welded on.A Dremel would do either.
You should try and leave the front derraillieur on at first as a chain guide if you can.
LOTS of cable ties!
If you have not removed a BB before then Google it as depending on the type you may find that that the right hand side is a left hand thread.

I have just removed my BBS02 from my Evade this afternoon and it will be fitted to my Cannondale tomorrow after I have ground the BB weld out so its all fresh in my mind

An impact drill. Not needed but it did make it a lot easier for me to get the spindle out of the bottom bracket.

+1 on knowing which way the threads situate on the bike.

The drive side BB nut will be a left hand thread on a Specialized as they use englishBB's.
