Topeak MTX EX bag with grocery panniers at the same time?

I want to get the Topeak MTX EX Trunk Bag, and mount it on a rear rack (not on the seat post) to keep my battery in. I want to be able to carry groceries in some grocery panniers at the same time that the trunk bag is on the bike. But for some reason a few people on the amazon reviews are saying that you can't have panniers on the rack at the asme time as the trunk bag, but I can't understand why that would be the case. Can anyone enlighten me?

That model does not have panniers. You need to go to Topeaks web site and do some reading I have the biggest truck bag and it has the bags your wanting - but your going to spend from 70 to 100 dollars on the bag I've got.

Something like the one above also remember to get the correct rack to hold the bag

Most paniers have a U shaped hook that needs to be attached to your rear rack to hang the paniers from. The Topeak rack bags, in their stock form, make it difficult to fit the U shaped hanger for the paniers as the plastic mounting assembly for the bag to slide on and off obscures that space. The bag has the mating half of the mounting system and fits fairly snug against the frame. I would expect that is what they are talking about. If you will be using a different rack you will still need both parts of the mounting assembly if you want it to slide on and off as per design that is.

I forgot to subscribe to this thread so I thought no one was responding.

I found out that the liding rail interferes with the rack's top tube where panniers mount to.

I ended up getting a Ibera touring rack, which has two sets of parallel tubes at top, one pair to support a trunk bag, and another a pair set a little lower and wider ouut than the first pair, to hook panniers to. This way trunk bags wont interfere with quick release. You might have trouble with those saddle bag type ones that are one piece with a flap that hangs across the top of the rear rack though. Interstingly, they also have a trunk bag that has an adapter so you can quick-release the bag even on non-Ibera racks.

I got Banjo Brothers Market Panniers to carry groceries and other misc cargo in. Being able to get groceries like this is going to save me so much time, I'm really looking forward to it. Hopefully money too, because I will in theory spend less on eating out if I grocery shop more often, especially since the cheaper market is the hardest one to get to due to hills.
