Hi Guys, time for another longish, partially foot powered trip.
WLCC is now tooling up to build two upgraded quads (it takes two to make a race) based on the original prototype design that made it from London to Gibraltar in 7 1/2 weeks during the summer of 2013.
On July 30th, 2015, 2 quadricycle teams will set off from WLCC in Notting Hill on a 5 day race covering 100 km per day using both human pedal power and a 250 watt hill climbing assist motor for as long as their single fresh battery lasts during each stage. Lands End is 511km from London by the by.
Anyone on ES with experience at organising events is welcome to comment, advise, caution us etc. A dedicated web page for uploads by the techies should be up and running before Christmas. or after.....
The club is in talks with international sponsors so they're willing to consider people from outside the UK. The doctor selected for the event is a DPM from Reading, Pa. USA. He's the only one who gets a free trip, others pay their own way to London plus their return home. The week long event expenses will be covered 100%. Anyone who is actually fit (able to pass the insurance physical) and interested can email; contact@westlondoncc.org
The short clip below is a test drive with a journalist from the London Gazette. The actual racers will be more sleek and much lighter than the 57kg this machine weighs now;
