Justin has inspired many of us to load up the E-bike and hit that long road.

Some in the tread about his trip across Canada asked about what to take.
I picked up a book by Dennis Coello, "Touring on Two Wheels" that answered all those questions. Dennis is a seasoned bicycle tourist, that has loaded up for long tours in all seasons. He even discusses preparing for a winter bike camping trips.

Doing a quick google I found numerous copies of his book available for a few dollars, it is long out of print. Alibris has copies for $1.99.

Check out his newest home page, Dennis Coello. http://denniscoello.com/

Enjoy, hope to see some of you out on the open road...Note, I am below the southwestern leg of the eastern north-south trail of the Adventure Cycling maps route.

I've not worked this out for ebike touring yet but my basic rule of thumb for self supported bicycle touring is that the gear should not weigh more than the bike.
Fifty percent of the weight should be over the rear wheel. Thirty percent over the front and the other 20% left at home.

LOL.

I like the idea of packing two bags, load one on the bike, leave the other one home....

A friend of mine told me how when he was a boy, his dad said he was taking his sister and him out camping that weekend.

When Friday rolled around, the father called them and they came out with their bags packed. He looked at the bags and looked at them, then asked them, "What those bags were for? Doesn't matter you're not taking them anyways."

They went out with Dad's survival knife and the clothes on their backs and had a great time.

Oh, his dad was a retired Ranger in the Army.
