That's all good news. The idea of making new ends was to avoid additional thickness of mounting brackets on both sides. I do prefer supporting it from both ends to keep it from being pulled out of square with the driveline. The spiral intake ports make that cover pretty wide without being thick enough to confidently mount to. I am envisioning a rear cover with face holes at about the same diameter as the windings. Figured this would force the air to flow right across the copper. If I go to all that trouble I can add an anti rotation notch to the can to key the cover to.

The clamp mount was the plan B if new covers prove to be too much trouble but a large clamp comes along with its fair share of headaches.

Btw, how many of these motors are on running bikes?
