trek 3900

hi all,i have been scanning graigslist for the next project bike and came across a like new trek 3900 for 240$.do you think this would be a good bike for a lower powered geared system like e-bike kit.looking to build something stealth and for assist,not for speed as i still enjoy pedaling.all opinions greatly appreciated,thanks.

Should be fine with torque arms.

Depends on the year.

I have a 4500 from the mid 2000's and it was easy as cake to make torque arms for, and it's been super solid even with a 250lbs rider doing 30-40mph.

Is it the disc version? Either way, it would make a good conversion.

You might want to swap out at least the freewheel and maybe even the crankset. If pedaling is important to you, (it is to me too) it will be extremely frustrating not to be able to contribute power at the motor's cruise speed.

You folks up there in MN have Hogs and Turkeys in common with us there. But we don't have the giant dairy presence (and awesome cheese industry) that you folks do. That's what I'm missing...great cheese and cheese curds and Butterburgers.

I get them when I go to Oshkosh, right down the road from Minnesota, right? 8)

I was swearing at the F.I.B.S. today on the way home from work. How is it possible an entire state has no driving sense? Yet IL exists. Anyway, I have a 2011 model 3700 disc. It is rock solid. I had torque plates made. No problems.

Oh yeah, I forgot: itchyknackers is up there in the Sacred Lands too. I'm turning toward both MN and WI and saluting. Gad I miss Mars Cheese Castle. And believe it or not, I'd trade you some fresh curds for warm weather, if we had it to send your way. We're 34F right now - although I guess that IS warm weather to you?

Holy crap I just looked up FIB and about fell out laughing. So you guys get that too, eh? We get that down here from similar types. Now I KNOW you guys in MN and WI are my bro's!
