Hi everyone. I am new to e bikes and the like, but I have recently come across a large trike frame that was made in Shanghai by a company called Treecycle ran by a husband and wife who were originally from San Diego' turns out that it was a pedicab that has changed hands after a death and after time passed, the whole bamboo enclosure and tires just disinigrated due to ambivilence and time. What survived was the nuvinci n360 and a motor. the frame is aluminum and is a very unique design. my firsr thought was to try to sell it after i researched the costs of everytrhingneeded to make it mobile, but since then I have decided to go through with the project, because , asi said the frame is unique and very cool. i can find no info on the defunct company and will most likey fab everything needed to make this a reality. i do have exp with bike conversions, but with gas engines and the goal was speed, not the possibility of human cargo. I suppose I am just looking for anyone familiar with this particular trike, who can comment on pros, cons, frame reliability, limitations ect. ill post a couple pictures, tomorrow, but it does not resemble the trike as it was marketed with the whole bamboo cabin in situ. I figured joining up in your forum would be helpful after stumbling onto Amberwolfs incredibly knowledgeable posts about ongoing builds. so, hats off to Amberwolf for sparking my interest in gouing bdown this road further. IF anyone can help with info, it would be appreciated. nice to make your aquaitence, be safe out there.

i can find no info on the defunct company
First google hit:

attached pdf of page in case of link rot, at end of post
page includes at least one video (didn';t watch it).
page links to the manufacturer site, which doesn't exist anymore, but archive.org has numerous copies like this one
This page has specs, etc
I haven't viewed all the pages, but it's likely that if one version of the archive is missing info, it probably exists in one of the others.

several other hits with useful info in this google search, including an electricbikereview page

many images of it at all sorts of angles and versions in this image search

What specifically do you want this trike to do for you, under what specific riding conditions? Those will determine what you need to do to make it workable for you, and what kind of battery/motor/controller/etc if you need to add those.

Never seen one, but have built various bike and trike frames, currently working on another trike. Would need to know how you want to use it to give you useful feedback on reliability and limitations.

One limitation I saw from the little info I read in the linked pages is that it is a single-sided drive in the rear. This makes turning in the drive side direction difficult, so one thing you may wish to do while rebuildng it is to convert to a differential drive. Depending on your budget and needs, there are numerous peerless diffs out there that can be used even if you don't moutn the wheels directly to them, but instead drive the diff with your drivetrain (pedals, motor, whatever) and then use the ends of the diff to drive the wheels, as I am doing on the schwinn conversion here Amberwolf's Schwinn Trike Rebuild / Conversion to Heavy Cargo Hauler

If you don't need more than pedal power thru the diff, and run the motor either directly to the wheel(s) in the rear or use a front hubmotor, then you can use a tiny little diff like the one that came on my schwinn (in the upper left, the igh is below and to the right).

If you're in the general phoenix area, then when i get far enough on my new trike to know for sure i won't need that little diff for it or the sb cruiser, you could have it...but i wouldn't run motor power thru it, it's pretty minimal. ;)

You're welcome; I'm glad I've inspired someone. :)

Thanks for the response I found those links that you're referring to and I've checked them all out and stuff but I even did the MGT engineering research and they're not around anymore and there's no contact or website is defunct it's been sold or something but I can't find them and it I guess it doesn't really matter because my plans for the frame is I guess to go back to being a pedicab my first thought was to to motorize it gas powered for fuIMG_20250407_190732515_PORTRAIT.jpgIMG_20250407_190754765_PORTRAIT.jpgIMG_20250407_190816483_PORTRAIT.jpgn I suppose but that's just going to lead to trouble. So I'm aware of the limitations as far as the one wheel drive and I'd like to convert it to a differential and just a center drive I guess it's called I don't know too much about this and I was thinking a wheel motorized wheel hub up front and then a differential with both Wheels involved and maybe pedal assist but I don't know how well that's going to work because it's belt driven this as it is and that was the assist was the one little motor you know on the side but all I'll post some pictures here in a minute.

did you get the pics?

Hi Marty seem to be sending you pics incorrectly or something but here's some pics I've been trying to send you

When you reply to posts here, you're not "sending" anything, you're just posting in your thread. If you want to "send" someone something, you'd have to get their email address to send it to them.

But if they are posting in this thread, then they can see anything you post in it.

You just have to be patient and wait for them to see it.

Then you have to be patient and wait for them to reply.

Being impatient and reposting things just fills your thread with duplicates that make it harder for people to follow it and help you.

I posted what I did because you said:

i can find no info on the defunct company
If you'd already found all that, then you *did* find info on them.

Next time I'll wait to spend time helping until you've posted all of the complete details of what you already know and have, so I don't waste time on stuff you already have or know. :(
