TSDZ2 PAS sensor failure and adjustment

My PAS sensor sits slightly above the surface of the housing and in the TSDZ2 wiki Casainho wrote that his sensor was worn down, likely from the torque sensor outer ring rubbing due to excessive play.

I want to modify mine to remove this potential failure point. It seems relatively easy to reposition the sensor by loosening the screw that holds it to the controller and shimming it with something.

Does anyone know...
- Should the PAS sensor ideally be flush with the surface of the housing?
- What is the factory gap from the sensor to the magnet ring on the torque sensor?
- What is the maximum gap the PAS sensor can tolerate?

If anyone has photos of their sensor and housing please share them.

Casainho said he moved his 1mm away (or an additional 1mm away?) but doesn't mention how the final result was in relation to the surface of the housing or if it operated reliably long-term.

I got the PAS sensor working intermittently and after disassembling TSDZ2 motor controller to inspect, I saw the following (left side is the sensor failing and on right side is new one):

Seems the failing sensor was sanded (about 1 millimeter) by the torque sensor part ring where the 20 small magnets are.
