Friends,

I want to connect 4 Hobby King Turnigy - 6S lipo 5000 ah packs in series/parallel to equal one 44.4 volt / 10 ah battery pack. I will need battery packs, charger-balancer, special connectors if any. I intend to run a standard Amped Bike/9C 2807 direct drive motor with the standard 22 amp/25amp peak controller. I've read a great deal about this technology and the cautions thereof. I understand the charger and battery use safety constraints. I know how to wire in series, then in parallel, or vice-versa. What advice do you offer as to 15C/20C/25C rating, special parts needed, recommended charger, etc. for a new lipo battery pack builder? What would your shopping list be?

There are a lot of recent threads on this, please search around.
I think i have answered this question about 10 times in the last 2 weeks.

Don't mean to be rude, but the info is just hanging out waiting to be read.. :)

There is a 200 watt "eco6" charger for like 30 bucks. Get two of them and four of the $42 group buy special battery packs. Get a big 12v power supply, watt meter and LVC buzzers too while you're at it! That should be a good start.

Hard to make an exact list, unless you want a list to do it exactly like I did. Thread links exist in the lipo battery noob thread that show how I converted my lipo to anderson connectors. Hardly the best way, just one way.

The short list is, 4 bricks of lipo, two low voltage warning devices, or two voltage display devices. 3 feet each of 12 guage wire in black and red, and at least 4 pairs of bullet connectors the same size as the connectors on your pack. Thats for connecting two paralell harnesses to the batteries. Then more of what ever connectors you choose to connect to the bike, and the charger.

Then the charger of your choice, depending on how fast you want charged.

voltage display ... like this ?

Yup, one of many many versions.

The more I use my lipo though, I'm finding that once you know your battery is built from good packs you stop needing a lot of voltage monitoring. Just a CA and knowing, stop by X voltage is pretty much all you need. Plus riding with a big enough pack to have plenty. I love the lipo chargers. They tell you right there on the read out, you are fully charged. Knowing that, you can just ride with a CA and know you have X ah in there for sure.

where is this available (not back ordered) ?

where is any 6s charger available in this price range ?

The eco6 is a hobbyking/turnigy brand charger

Read the reviews on that charger, there may be a lot of four star ratings but the customer's reviews are more like 0 star in text.. I think hobbyking did some manipulation there ( not unheard of from them )

Looks like many are built on a friday. You get what you pay for.

I say pony up for an iCharger or hyperion.
I would never charge batteries that could catch my house on fire if abused on a low quality charger... just my opinion.

BTW if you keep the page open on an iCharger for long enough, you'll get a big percentage off.. i paid $121 for my iCharger 1010b+ which was a steal.

Also, be on the look out for the new 8000mAH packs.. they are a good deal and cut down the wiring quite a bit. 8AH would be good for a short hauler ( ~10-15 miles, below 25 amps ).

In the USA, EP buddy has good chargers, and some cheaper ones too.

FWIW, I've used this one for a while with great results. I have a 888wh pack, so it can take a while.

Yeah, it varies. Both my turnigy 8s 150w chargers are doing well, and both my b6's. Bought em in pairs knowing at least one would go poof. Then all are doing fine. Not as much luck with power supplies. Poofed one 10amp car charger and one 30 amp meanwell clone.

so ... i am going to try this .....
from EP Buddy ....

1 x G.T. Power A6-10 200W Battery Charger (A6-10)
4mm Bullet Connectors (6sets)
1 x Bare Ends Parallel Charge Power Cable...6 way split
1 x 6S JST-XH Balance Cable for Parallel Charge .. 6 way split
1 x Watt Meter

no tax ... free shipping

6- turnigy 6s packs from HK ... takes me to 44-50v 15 Ahr

Or may try 22-24V in parallel ... 30Ahr

My HK 8 cell charger fizzed out first week of use...

Yep, so did mine, except this was an "i-charger,208B" It worked great for a few weeks, charged one 6-series pack then...fssst, and a puff of white smoke and a nasty rancid smell.

Found out it was a mosfet, totally melted.

what is the guarantee or return policy ? Is shipping worth it ?
