Turning Mom's Cruiser into a Street Bruiser

This is my first project built around Mom's Huffy Cruiser that she was done with. I hated it's look but dang it was comfortable to ride so I decided to make it more "manly". I started by stripping off the tacky decals w/goo gone and painted the frame metalic green, the chrome splash guards titanium & the chain guard black. The stock foam handgrips were quite awful so I got some ravx comfys. Put a thorn-resistant tube in the rear and got a strong Jim Blackburn rack off ebay. Topped it off with a cateye wireless and a DIY halogen light from an old camcorder and I'm ready for crimefighting. I'm using 3 12ah SLA for power which propels my 215lb frame to around 22mph unassisted. I'm quite pleased with the look and performance. Thanks to ES for all the valuble info and assistance.

No drink holder?...just kidding, it looks great! Please provide more details about the frame painting?...

Also, whats the part number on the big black & red connector coming out of the battery bag?

Well to paint the frame you gotta get everything off it first which is not fun but not too hard with the exception of the deraileur which took me a while to to reattach, perhaps taking a picture of certain areas would help as reference later. After the goo gone I basically windexed the crap out of it to remove anything that would prevent paint from sticking. I had to tape off the cranks/gear and kept the chain on but covered in cloth and dangling which I would later reposition to allow painting. I didn't sand or strip but I made sure I got high quality Dupli-color paints from the auto shop. Dupli-color not only sticks and dries fast but the nozzle sprays very evenly and produces professional results. I hung the frame in the garage by a hook & wire which allowed me to rotate and freely spray from all directions & was able to coat it several times with one medium can. One thing I would do differently is to 1st spray the tin/chrome chain and splash guards with a self-etching primer as I can now see chrome from some light scratches. The connectors are standard anderson powerpole which I got a pack of 10 prewired on ebay for $10.
 
Glad your bones don't look like that!

Next time, mabye an MTB bike with more effective brakes?
