Hello

I have been in contact with Ian from Lifebatt UK, he knows about the deal and as he deals direct with the factory he can offer a very good deal on these cells, he needs to ship a minimum of 560 cells to make it worth it though, it makes it a lot easier than getting in on the US group buy then having to ship the cells from calif to the UK, the price Ian quoted me is very reasonable however he would need to put out 80 percent of the cells in order not to make a loss on them.

Price is looking to be around 20 uk pounds a cell, which when all things considered is a good price, this price has not been fixed yet however, if folks are interested can they please contact Ian and also tag their interest to the bottom of this thread.

As far as BMS and chargers go we will need to sort that part out, the cells themselves will take 6 weeks to come from the factory Ian may be able to help out getting the chargers, in 6 weeks time Garys BMS should be ready? if we can get the boards shipped over I am sure we can get a few assembled over here, I can get a few made up for folks who want to build packs.

I am not putting myself up as a group buy admin as I dont have the time, just testing the water to see how many folks are interested in the deal? I am in for at least 30 cells? what about Malc? surely he needs a few more AH in that motorcycle!!

So UK ebikers what do you think??

Cheers

Hi Knoxie
Yes, I'll be contacting Ian soon too. If the price is confirmed at around £20 per cell I'll be putting in an order for 60 cells minimum.

I may be way off track on this but I thought for people involved in the group buy who are not on the US mainland were going to have their cells shipped in a bulk lot from TW to their nearest distributor ? And then had to come up with a shipping plan from there.

At least that was the impression I am getting for the guys in Australia and Canada

60 Cells!! superb!! Malc that will pep that motorcycle up a little!! well thats almost 100 cells off the bat! if we can get a few more on board we should be able to get on target!! so if you are in the UK and want to get in on the deal please post your interest below, you dont need to order huge quantities you can order 1 cell if you want  we just need to get the numbers up to 560 in order for the deal to go through and for Ian to not make a loss on them.

Cheers

Hi

No not as far as I can tell, the whole shipment was going to come in to California and distributed from there, this is why Don Harmon requested that I contacted Ian as it will be very expensive to get the cells shipped from calif via UPS or Fedex, the price that Ian has quoted includes all the delivery charges and VAT, it does not include shipping from his HQ though, he said he will ship them at a charge or you can drop by and pick them up.

I am 100% sure that this is how it is going to work, in many ways it is working as you said though I suppose, its a UK group buy instead of a US one, the factory dont mind as they are still shipping a lot of cells in bulk and getting a good dollar price for them, this makes sense, it doesnt make sense to ship the cells form the factory to the US then ship them back from the US to the UK in separate shipments, its much better and cheaper for Ian to ship them direct.

I have done the sums on this and it is a lot cheaper and more direct for uk folks to go through Ian in the UK, you can of course still get in on the US deal should you wish to, the factory will still be happy as they are shifting the cells, I think these batteries are going to make their mark with this deal, A123 are missing out bigt time here, those cells are amazing but the reduced amount of interconnects and their durability these cells are very hard to beat and are available.

Knoxie,

I'm in for at least 24 cells.

Hi Miles!

Cool!! its clocking up nicely now! will keep a track on the numbers, once we are somewhere near we can contact Ian with our money and get this all moving, folks who are interested should search the boards here for details on how to handle these cells, the spec on them for this price is hard to beat, so come on!! what ya waiting for :D

I'm confused. Enlighten me, please. I've just looked on the Lifebatt.co.uk website at the prices:
1210-HPS 12V / 10Ah w/VMS, 2 Terminals £204.87
Is that not 16 cells with BMS which is a lot less than £20 per cell?
:?

Hi Paul

That would be 4 cells! they are 3.3V per cell! 4 x cells for 204 pounds = 51 pounds per cell, ok there is a VMS in there as well but its way off the deal for the single price of these cells, they may even use only 3 cells in that pack? I dont know the specs but its more likely to be 4 cells.

Knoxie

Can I start with a 24V x 20ah (16 cells) and later configure those cells as 48V x 10 ah? And can I buy one BMS that will cover both setups?

Knoxie is correct - Our U.K. Distributor will handle the Group Buy for the U.K. and Europe for that matter, so that shipment will go from the factory straight to him. Please go through Ian Goodman for any European Group Buy orders.

Thanks,

Don Harmon

Hi Don

Thanks for coming on board to clarify that for us and yes Paul you can configure whatever system you would like in the future, the BMS monitors each cell whether the packs are connected in series or parallel.

Will post this over on the BVS forum, I have already posted it over on power assist.

Cheers

Hi

Ian has asked me to clarify that for 12V packs you would need 4 x cells and that he can supply chargers 12,24,36,48V and that he will also be testing Garys BMS on a pack as soon as it is ready.
