first time poster here. I have been lurking for a while. I found a picture of an electric car that peaked my interest.
can anyone tell me anything about it? I think it would be a great project.

That is a Cyclekart, circa 2001 if I recall. Those are 17" Honda wheels as found on the Supercub and other scooters, (Step one, FIND WHEELS) powered by a Honda 6.5hp lawnmoweresque engine, http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_303_303 or the Harbor Freight equivilent. Here's the Stevenson Project original website. http://www.cyclekarts.com/

If you're interested in going to events, let's not forget the granddaddy of them all. http://www.gittrevillegp.com/www.gittrevillegp.com/Blog/Blog.html

The idea is you build a replica of an old time cyclecar racer. I'm trying to work up an AutoUnion type D.

Electric? Sure, maybe a 5Kw motor. Keep in mind if you wanted to compete in time trials they may not have a class for you.

thanks guys for the information.... since this will be a long term project I am now working on my Etricycle chopper.....
I will do all the research because I think it is a great looking little car. Thanks Dauntless for all the info. it will take me a long way into the project.

This is turning into a sweet project. a 5kw motor sounds great. but i would want it to be pretty quiet. can someone help me here with a recommendation.
it seems the frame may have to be a bit stronger for batterys. the motor choice is pretty important to me cause i want it to be quiet
could a cvt be used on this?
I have found a rack&pinon steering that will work and differintial I would like to use.
thanks guys for all your help.
Roger
