hello i have a 36v e bike 500w im trying to make it as fast as possible i added a battery to it so now is around 50 to 52v (48) i think i tried adding another one and the voltage was too high at 65 v (60v)and the controller inside says max 63v so if i get another controller one that goes up to 96v will the motor handle it or get a controller for a 48v 1000w that changes amps im not sure i thought that 500w 36v wouldd be fast enough but its just barely faster then cyclist which is prretty sslow

Assuming your motor is a typical direct drive hub motor, it should be able to handle up to 72v 40 amps, 3000w, for a short run. 8-10 miles, if you run full throttle the whole run. They can handle 2000w a lot better, so 48v 30 amps, or 72v 30 amps will get you a longer run before the motor overheats.

Depends on whether you want 40 mph with 72v, cops looking at you like this, . Or just 30 mph or so, with 48v.

Bear in mind, it takes a hell of a wheelman to not crash when you push bike tires and brakes to 40 mph riding all the time. How good is your 40 mph laydown? 48v bike a lot safer for most riders. Very perky with a 40 amps, 2000w controller. But not so perky you wear out a tire in a day.
