Upgrading kids electric scooter suggestions

Hi,
I got a kids Sharper Image X2 electric scooter the other day. which appears to have a 2-stroke brushed around 200 watt motor, NiMH batteries, a and 3mm GT timing belt drive. I am guessing the controller is built into the accelerator which is a power drill trigger thing that spins the motor when you squeeze it. I believe it is a 12amp 7.2-24v controller because that is what it says on the push accelerator thing. What is the best thing to upgrade on this thing? If i kept the ~200W motor and got a 24v brushed 20amp controller would it make it faster? Is it dangerous to just get a controller with more current capacity? How do I even check the wattage i'm getting on the motor? Because the max speed is like 8 mph and I want to get it to around 15mph and I'm not sure what wattage I would need and how to get that wattage (again, motor or controller upgrade)? Any input is appreciated thanks!!!

The guy moved up, but nothing there that you can't find more about on ES.

I'm always reminding that these tiny scooters are just not the thing you want to go fast on. You only think you do.
