Apology if old news, I tried searching however the short name and hyphen might be more than I know how to find:

Looks like a great pilot bike. Get you from where the planes park to where the cars are rented.

Definitely not very fast or far on those wheels but one of those "last mile" solutions, I suppose?

Unfortunately, FAA probably won't allow that much lithium to fly commercial. But I could see it being quite handy for mixed mode train commuting?

Too bad there's not a basket or rack so that it can serve as a "hand truck" shopping cart or similar?

I always seem to come back to one of those small Razor or motorboard standup scooters for mix-mode commuting simplicity and lightweight but this is definitely worth a look....

Stumbled on this today and it looks like a really nice design.
URB-E Foldable Electric Vehicle Solves the 'Last Mile' Problem

  • URB-E is powered by a 36V, 10.5Ah lithium-ion battery and a brushless front hub electric motor rated at 250 watts.
  • URB-E will be around $1,999 USD for the base COMMUTER or GP models
  • weighs in at a lean 27 lbs (13 kg) with the battery installed. The battery and electric motor is more than half the weight.
  • one year limited warranty
  • URB-E is made from recyclable aircraft grade aluminum that has been machined to reduce all but the essential material for maximum weight reduction and reveal the iconic hole pattern, similar to how race cars and aircraft are built.
  • URB-E has many beneficial features such as an integrated luggage rack, a patented folding mechanism and shock absorbing seat for an extremely comfortable ride, led lighting, and replaceable color sleeve inserts for creating a personalized look. It also has an option to be a three-wheel trike version for more stability in slower moving pedestrian traffic, or a more aggressive two wheel GP edition for a little more freedom and excitement. There is also an integrated universal smartphone mount with a custom app being developed to monitor URB-E’s speed, battery, range, and navigation, as well as being able to charge your phone and other devices with the integrated USB port.
  • URB-E teamed up with a production facility in Pasadena, CA called Foes Racing and began production early spring, 2014. Foes makes handmade, high-end downhill mountain bikes, so we are confident we will be delivering a very high quality product.

It's a neat design, but I suspect that without functioning pedals it will not be legal in many places.

The legality issue with the URB-E has to do with the fact that it has no pedals and looks rather like a somewhat miniaturized version of a Sachs MadAss 125; legally speaking it's either a tiny anemic moped or a trendy-looking Razor E300. In the former case it would be illegal to ride without a driver's license, but given the power level on it it might be able to squeak by as a funny-looking GoPed ESR or Razor-like object. To be honest, it reminds me of eNanoHerpyBike for hipsters.

As is, it's illegal in the EU, hope you didn't have an export market in mind across the pond.

There was a flood of eerily similar Chinese products to the UK more than a dozen years ago. They had tiny, non-functional plastic pedals and that pissed off the people at the Transport Ministry. It became mandatory to prove the pedals worked when someone was stopped by the police.

You can guess the rest by their absence from the streets today.

Is there a build based on a Razor? Or some such similar scooter? I'd like a razor type scoot to run around the block and for very short runs to visit around the neighborhood. We have sidewalks that would be perfect for something capable of hauling 90 kilos around the "hood". Ideas?

You have several options available, depending on what you want to do. For starters, Craigslist is your friend if you're looking for donor frames/chassis to work on. Here's a Razor E300 for $75; you could also go for the slightly nicer $100 Schwinn S500, or whatever this thing is for $50 if you want to go the cheap route. Once you have a donor frame, you can just throw a Turnigy 63mm brushless motor and a Kelly controller in it, replace the batteries with Hobbyking LiPos, and you're good to go. I posted a much more in-depth guide to doing that sort of conversion over here as well, if you're interested.

Yes but for $2600USD it ought to perform unnatural sex acts as well.

Thats horrendous money!

I'm 6'3 - those videos still make them look too compact to be really comfortable

Look in the skateboard section, there are plenty of kick scooter conversions, even 20 inch wheel DD hub motor setups . . ..

My kick scooter conversion has a 63/74 RC motor and HK lipo - it will be less than $400 to cover 'the last mile', folds to half that size . .. and you dont need to look like an Ubergeek riding it.
