I've been dreaming up a full suspension eBike that is more of an "electric dirtbike." Here are the specs I'm thinking of:
Full suspension downhill mountain bike
9 Continents (AmpedBikes) Rear Hub Motor
72 volts at around 10ah
I'm looking at the Bosch BAT836 Fatpacks on eBay. The batteries, I believe, use 20 Konion cells in a 10s2p configuration (the cells are 1300 mah each) and provide about 2ah each. The BAT836 is only $44 on eBay with free shipping!!!
There have been several great posts on the Bosch packs, but I still have questions mostly about electrical theory. Here are a few posts on the Bosch batteries I've been looking at:

Here are my questions:
*The Bosch 36v batteries don't have a BMS, and from the pics of the packs busted open, it looks like they don't have balancing wires. All I see is one 8awg red wire and one 8awg black wire coming from either ends of the packs. Sooo... these cells never have to be balanced? Is that correct?-- I'm educating myself slowly.
*What are the usable amp-hours of lithium-ion, lipo, LifePO4, and lead-acid? I heard that the Lead-acid batteries I'm currently using in my ebike only use about half of the amp hours before the voltage cutoff kicks in. Is it the same with the lithium batteries?
*When charging lithium-based batteries, can I charge a string of batteries in parallel and treat the string as if it were one battery? Do I have to worry about balancing issues and such? For instance, if I were to put 6 of these Bosch packs in parallel and rewire the charger so that I could feed the charging wires into the parallel batteries, would it charge the 6 batteries but just take longer?
*When using lithium-ion 18650 cells, do you have to use a BMS or Balancing system, or can I just use a lot and high voltage cutoff?
Thanks for the responses. I just built my first eBike, and now I want to build an even better one!, but my knowledge is limited. Here's a pic of my current cruiser-ebike.
